PROS:GREAT BBQ. Meat is flavorful. The sausage is delicious and the chicken is great. CONS:We ordered mashed potatoes. The gravy is delicious. The mashed potatoes taste like dried mashed potato flakes that were mixed with water. not appetizing.
MoreFirst time trying this place. Not impressed. I ordered the pulled chicken. It was very very soft. Almost mushy. Not a lot of smoke flavor and have lots of seasoning on it. Seemed to be all dark meat. The coleslaw was ok. The baked beans were just mush, like a soup. Fried okra was not crisp. Chopped brisket sandwich was ok. Sauce is not worth it.
MorePaid 9 bucks for a baked potato that was not put together had everything on the side, brisket was dry bbq sauce was too watery and to top that paid 3 bucks for a peach cobbler but got more crust than anything. I will never go back
MoreFirst time visit. We ate in the dining room and saw a number of people come in to pick up to go orders - seemed pretty popular. Employees were friendly and good service. Our family was split on the food simply as a matter of taste preferences.
MorePicked up a sandwich and jalapeno sausage for my birthday. I have been to many barbeque restaurants and Sonny Bryan's piled it on. The fatty brisket was moist and overflowing and the jalapeno sausage was spicy and crisp. Will definitely be back.
MoreOn my last trip to Dallas I got a chance to visit Sonny Bryan's Smokehouse in Richardson. My original intent had been to go to "The Original" in the Inwood area. But I couldn't make it - I wish I would have made the longer drive down, as the experience at the Richardson joint was underwhelming. The barbecue was fine - but the ambiance was not very impressive. Honestly, it felt a bit like walking into a Dickey's BBQ (heaven forbid) - very commercial and sterile. So that was disappointing. The meat was fine. I ordered the "Hill Country" brisket, which had more smoky flavor than their regular brisket. It tasted fine. The jalapeno sausage was reasonable, but again not overwhelmingly good. The coleslaw was good, as was the sauce.I wouldn't go out of my way to go to this location again. However, I do still want to give "The Original" a try when I am up in Dallas again.
MoreI love this place. Been eating here on and off for over a decade and the food is always good. Best pork ribs around.
MoreBrisket sandwiches were great!
This was my first time eating here at the recommendation of family living in Frisco. Our party of 5 enjoyed all the food. Their "famous" onion rings were top notch to the whole table. Staff was service oriented and the place was very clean including the bathrooms. Oh and make sure you don't pass up the fresh rolls!
MoreI used to love this place 20yrs ago. Now it is gross. I have been there a few times recently for lunch and dinner and the brisket and sausage were gross. I had to smother it with a bottle of sauce. Overpriced too. Okra was soggy/rubbery and not crispy. Portions small.
MoreI love the chili chopped bbq brisket Frito pie it's delicious and so filling.
Good bbq as nd has nice Friday lunch deal today
Love this place! The staff is SUPER friendly and helpful! The food is GREAT! And the private dining room is PERFECT for parties, meetings or private events!!!
MoreBrisket is good, pulled pork is awesome, apple cobbler is epic!
Love the service and lunch suggestion. The turkey was an excellent choice, smokey, tender and yummy.
MoreThe smells are wonderful as you approach the restaurant and enter--to the extent that you can smell through the disease-proof protection <ha, ha> that is required. However, the chopped beef was unsatisfactorily dry and needed the sauce that was generously provided with the meal. I prefer a toasty sesame-seeded bun, as the glutenous fancy bun provided does not stand up to the drenching that my meat sustained. I'll be back, but I will partake of another meat. Here's a real subtlety: the green bean casserole would be MUCH better if the green beans were less mature so that I don't need to spit out the beans that eject from the pod with every bite.
MoreOrdered through Grub Hub, too much vinegar in sauce too much dill in potato salad the roll was soggy, ordered the large 3 meat combo, received the small instead. The meats sliced beef, sausage and ribs were delicious and Cole slaw was good. Have been a Sonny Bryan 's customer for over 30 yrs. Next time I'm craving Sonny Brian's will go on Harry Hines and order in person. This is my first bad experience with Sonny Bryans will remain a customer.
MoreDucked in around 11 am today for a quick and tasty meal- good portion size, good value- top quality and service
MoreDelicious food; friendly staff; nice environment
All the basic BBQ fare. Well prepared. Decent prices. Quick service. A good neighborhood place, but I wouldn't drive too far to get there.
Morepeople were polite so ill give it thatthe brisket was so dry i couldnt even eat it esausage was ehworth 38$ for two people? NOi was more impressed with dickeys which is also cheaper...
MoreExcellent service! Thank you, Bradley, for your exceptional service. I recommend the Chopped brisket sandwich that comes with 2 sides. Their barbecue sauce is nicely heated and they have a very open seating space. It’s my favorite go to after work.
MoreI ♡ Sonny Bryans. Having a husband recovering from a hospital stay we ordered turkey, ham and dressing from Sonny Bryans Richardson. Our normal bbq go to was a terrible idea for Thanksgiving. The turkey was "funky" as my 24 yr old daughter explained. The ham was tough. We didn't even know that could happen. No flavor and tough as a boot. Very disappointed. We did a redo on Friday with other local options for both ham and turkey. The dressing was ok. Sonny Bryans for lunch/dinner and even bbq catering but not for holiday meals.
MoreThe best barbeque in Dallas. Great Brisket
Good BBQ, nice staff, fair prices. Also love the family pack to take home!
Well, I stand corrected. I thought Dickeys was the worst BBQ in Texas until tonight. Sonny Bryan must be rolling over in his grave because that was the worst BBQ I’ve ever eaten. The ribs were never smoked, strictly oven, and had no discernible flavor whatsoever. I returned them and was barely offered another choice and got some boned out chicken with a terrible season, and no smoke, and dry brisket with the same affliction. The only thing they didn’t screw up was the Okra. All tolled $23 down the crapper!Never again!
MoreConsistently good quality and reasonable prices.
Great brisket!!! I had the 3 meat combo. Ribs, brisket and pulled pork with 2 sides. Excellent service and great eats.
MoreNice clean cozy place.. Prices are very reasonable. Friendly staff.. Good selection. BBQ Sauce is amazing. .
Moreits not too shabby, clean place nice staff good food
Always been one of the top BBQ spots in DFW.
Personally not a huge BBQ fan and went here with friends. Overall, it is a decent restaurant. The food is good. The pricing is a tad high in my opinion. The staff is friendly and there is adequate seating.
MoreDecided to go out and get some barbecue tonight and was hoping I could pull up to Sonny Bryan's, order by phone and have them deliver to the trunk of the car.Not the case. You have to go inside where NONE of the employees are wearing masks or gloves or observing social distancing!Fortunately I was wearing a mask and gloves, but they were not.In essence I was protecting them from me, but they were not reciprocating!!Other restaurants are doing their part to keep their customers safe.Apparently, Sonny's does not care!I would never go back to Sonny Bryan's . Period. My next stop is to Yelp at them!During the pandemic we should look out for each other, but Sonny's is only looking out for themselves!Extremely disappointed!
MoreThe overall experience was pretty much great. The ribs where great. Was expecting to have a bit warmer food.
MorePretty good bbq. A little pricey for what you get but it's usually very consistent. Had everything on this menu and it's all pretty good. Best deal they sell here Is an 8 lb bag of ice for .99 cents.
MoreBeen going to this location for 13 years and it's always great. Carl is amazing! Make sure to leave him a fat Tip xD.
MoreGood bbq. Beans were ok. Awesome onion rings
Been delivering good smoked food since 1910. Todays special, Frito Pie
26Mar2020@1045 Great service!!!!
Food doesn’t taste like BBQ. Looks good but the taste is not there.
good brisket and smoke sausage for customer appreciation day Thursday. Thanks
Ribs and brisket delicious. Beans are meh! Would eat here again.
This place might have a long "history," but the food is average, at best. It's just another run of the mill BBQ chain. The BBQ sauce has a decent kick, though.
MoreIn the area, this is the best barbecue. It is served up well, but lacks one thing....soft serve ice cream.
MoreThis was par BBQ (barely), not fantastic but definitely not worth the money. I don't want to go so far as to say this insults their phrase "real Texas BBQ" but it certainly isn't the best example. The restaurant was great, service was awesome, but this is Texas and you better get your BBQ right. My stompin' grounds are down south with places like Rudy's BBQ and the Salt Lick, and they are tough to beat, but even places like the second Lockhart BBQ in Plano or non-specialized joints (i.e Mash'd) in Frisco can produce better. I have lived in Texas my entire life, and am well seasoned (intended) BBQ-eater. As I write this review, I am kind of mad I ate those calories. I usually leave grinning.
MoreWent to lunch there on Tuesday 8/27/19, and appreciated the overall quality of the BBQ and the sides. Just like the original Sonny Bryan's in food quality. Will make it back soon!
MoreThis is called a Club Salad. Tons of ham and turkey. Yum
The service was fine but the food was not. Mac n cheese tasted instant, brisket was charred to the point of being inedible (even when I scraped it off the inner meat was dried out). The ribs were okay. The bbq beans weren't sweet.
MoreDecent bbq chain. Better than many of the one-off independent bbq restaurants. I like it better than Soul Man's.
